Buyer Beware: A Critical Error & Frustrating Service Made My Son's Glasses Unusable 😡


I'm writing this to warn other parents about my terrible online shopping experience. We ordered a pair of glasses for our 12-year-old after he found them using the virtual try-on, but he said he had trouble seeing with them. After a doctor's visit, we learned the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. The glassesusa site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they will just assume a value. Of course, that means the value will be wrong for many buyers. This fundamental error, which made the glasses useless, is what forced me to deal with their customer service after days of trying to reach a real person.

Customer: I’m calling about order #XXXX. My son’s new glasses are unusable. Our eye doctor confirmed the pupillary distance is wrong. Your website never asked for it and just used a default adult value for a 12-year-old!

CS Rep: I am very sorry to hear about the issue with your son's prescription and the frustration this has caused. I can see how that would be a major problem. Let me pull up your order.

Customer: It is a major problem. It’s also a problem that it’s impossible to reach a human here. I've sent emails with no timely response. This whole process has dragged on. What can you do to fix the glasses you made incorrectly?

CS Rep: I sincerely apologize for the communication delays. We can certainly remake the lenses with the correct PD at no cost to you. I can initiate an exchange process for you right now. You would just need to send the original pair back to us first.

Customer: So my son has to go without glasses while we wait for you to fix your mistake? That's your policy? This is unbelievable.

CS Rep: I understand your concern, and I am sorry for the inconvenience. That is our standard return policy for remakes. I will personally monitor the order to ensure it's prioritized the moment we receive the return.

The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent other families from falling into the same trap.
